I'm sure everybody has heard already, but all the same, I should announce it myself. I have a job. This Friday I head over to Noodles & Company for orientation. I'd be starting off as a dishwasher, but I might move up to the kitchen positions in the future. I'm excited.
I'll be taking a drawing class at ACC, just so I can get back in the groove of school.

I have the strongest feeling that my mom's family would really like seeing this. Apparently, my grandfather Richard had played the cello. And he taught at Penn State too, befor he taught at ASU.

Instructions: Each player starts with 7 random habits/facts about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged & list their names.
1. No matter where I go or how long I have to be someplace, I have to bring a book with me (even when we go to a friggin' bookstore) otherwise I start feeling panicky. 2. I always think that I have hearing problems, yet I never feel the need to verify that it's true. 3. The only place I ever feel like myself is my grandma's house in Tempe, and I hate that I may never be there again. 4. I've seriously thought about running away and changing my name on more than one occasion. 5. I've thought about trying to get a job as a bartender, even if I don't have the experience. 6. I really miss not being in a theatre production for so long. 7. When I was eight, I wondered if God hated me and my family because we didn't have a religion or go to church.
Yeah, it's depressing but whatever.
I'm sure everyone I know has already been tagged, so whoever else reads this, you're tagged

Way too long since the update. So I thought I'd be getting through with orthodontia. But, surprise, surprise, not today. It's true, doctors involved with teeth are sadists. Yes, that's just a generalization, but I wouldn't doubt it if mine actually was. I get up at 8 this morning hoping everything done for, but oh, no, not today, Addy. Can't I just punch him? Please?
Next Thursday, I get them off and then the world will be rejoice once more.
So, I cheered myself up from that little disappointment by going to see Ratatouille. So worth it. If the fact that it's done by Pixar isn't a reason to go, it's directed by Brad Bird, one of the better directors of animated movies, even if this is just his third. The perspective throughout is daunting, the textures and lighting are exquisite and the charaters are colorful and rich. Just like the food seen throughout the movie.
Now, I just have to decide whether or not I should go back to school this semester. I don't even know what I would take. I just want to be done with school, done with all that. I want to find what I should do with my life and stick with it.

So, the AFI "100 Years...100 Movies" thing was on last night. It was good to see some movies (e.g., Blade Runner, A Night at the Opera, The Shawshank Redemption) get the recognition they deserved, even if one (Toy Story) deserved to be much, much higher up on the list. Others didn't deserve to be on there at all (certain movies involving icebergs and seeing dead people come to mind), at least in my opinion. But overall, it was really enjoyable.
Just one thing to say about the #1 movie: DAMN YOU, CITIZEN KANE! DAMN YOU AND YOUR STUPID, MORONIC, P.O.S. SLED TO HELL! YOU WASTED TWO HOURS OF MY LIFE, YOU BASTARD!

Well, OK. Let's try this out, thanks to Ju-lay.
Look up ten of your favorite movies on IMDb and post a few of the plot keywords listed. Have your friends guess the movies.
1. Insanity, Asylum, WWI, French. 1966 King of Hearts 2. Neo Noir, 1950s, Police Corruption, Redemption. 1997 L.A. Confidential 3. Caper, Fake Identity, Answering Machine, Cryptography. 1992 4. Miscarriage Of Justice, Fugitive, Private Detective, Film Industry. 1988 Who Framed Roger Rabbit 5. Environmentalism, Animal Human Communication, Parallel World, Job Interview. 2001 6. Playwright, Writer's Block, Inspiration, Male Drag. 1998 Shakespeare in Love 7. Daydream, Dystopic Future, Bureaucrat, Guerilla. 1985 Brazil 8. Warning, Survival, Heroine, Claustrophobic Setting. 1979 Alien 9. Humanity, Man Versus Machine, Memories, Origami. 1982 10. Heist, Animal Abuse, Necklace, Naked Man. 1988 A Fish Called Wanda
...And my next book will be Sophie's World, and I think we should do a book club-type thing. What do you say?

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favourite lyric to your current favorite song. Or, your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better. If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
I have been asked by kameil: 1. What is your favorite type of weather? I have to say my favourite weather is rainy weather. I really like the scent that's in the air before, during and after the rainfall. You can take a stroll through it and feel cleansed.
2. If you could choose one person, living or dead, to have lunch with, who would you choose? For me, I'd want to have dinner with Steven Spielberg. His movies have had a big influence on the film world and on me.
3. Who do you most look up to? My Grandma K. She's has so many great stories to tell about her life and a great philosophy about it all too. Plus, she can cook very well and doesn't take any guff from anybody.
4. If you were a tetris block, which one would you be and why? I'd be the T block, because I think it's the most versatile. Yeah, an I block can get you the big points and the most lines when the timing's right, but I think the T can help you out in the most situations regardless of what you need it to do. And I like to think I'm like that in some respect.
5. If you could write a screenplay adaptation of any story, with a guarantee of it being made into a movie, which story would you choose and why? I'd want to do a screen treatment of Lamb. It's ridiculous, it's blasphemous, but it's still down to earth and shows strong connections and commonalities between Christianity and Judaism and the whole of the Eastern religions, and it is just a great story about two boys who realise their potential, expand their horizons (and can't seem to get past the horizon in one part of the book) and set forth to change the world in their own way.
And apparently...

The Fiery Furnaces, The Books, & Brian Eno |
] |
I'm passing the time by reading Watership Down by Richard Adams (apparently, it's a "hell of a book about bunnies") for the first time and listening to the following albums: Gallowsbird's Bark by The Fiery Furnaces, The Lemon of Pink by The Books, and Another Green World by Brian Eno. Give them a listen. Brian Eno's work is very good, especially considering that he helped in making some of the most revered rock albums around (e.g., Remain in Light, The Joshua Tree, David Bowie's Berlin Trilogy). The Fiery Furnaces and the Books both take a bit more patience to listen to (more for the latter), but are still very enjoyable, particularly the opening track on Gallowsbird's Bark: "South Is Only a Home"; and The Books' tracks "Tokyo" and "Take Time".
Give a listen to Architecture in Helsinki too while you're at it. They make The Brunettes sound like Metallica by comparison.
Oh, Katie! Could I borrow Picaresque by The Decemberists some time?

I'm 22! I'm 22! I'm happy!
And because I have nothing better to do, I decided to do this thing again. ...Because I can, that's why... Plus, I added interests I should have added before and found better photos of interests that I already had down.
( My Interests Collage! )
Also, I share my birthday with Bruce Lee, Jimi Hendrix, Bill Nye, (and now, for all the geeks out there) Michael Vartan (Vaughn from "Alias"), and one of Samwise's kids.
